My Dear Christian friends,
I was like you. At least I thought I was like you. I grew up Mormon.
And, un-Christian though you may feel Mormonism to be, I was raised with some connection to the Bible and Jesus.
That connection deepened as the Holy Spirit began to penetrate my life and guide me to follow God’s will–which ultimately culminated in me leaving the Mormon church.
God took me so many places after that–I credit every good thing in my life to Him. And God took me to some places that I never could have gone while stuck in the ‘religious’ mindset I was raised in.
Strict rules can be good, if they are from God. Yet we know, “The letter kills but the Spirit gives life.”
To me, that means that our own communication with God trumps everyone and everything else. God can tell us everything we need to know and do. That has been my experience.
My invitation to you is to keep all of your faith and all of the power of God in your life. Maintain your prayers. Seek to know God’s will and do it.
And be open for the most unusual of experiences and learnings which lie outside the Christian mainstream.
These things include, but are not limited to:
- Intimacy and love as you have never experienced nor even thought possible
- Learning about the power of our bodies, which God gave us
- An understanding of nature and God’s creation to serve our growth and development
Those are great places to start.
I learned that sexuality and intimacy can become 100x as powerful a tool to commune with God as anything I ever learned in the Church.
And, I made many many mistakes along the way.
Mistakes I would happily spare you in your journey beyond the beaten path.
Our limited understanding of God and Jesus has served us well for a long time. But when your soul begins to long for more truth, something deeper, more peace, and more of His power in your life, realize: there is more.
Knock and you shall receive.
Seek and you shall find.
Ask and it shall be given to you.
These are the promises. And, I can testify: they are sure.
May God’s love be abundant and guide you in your life.
Your Brother, in Christ,
